Refugee families don’t just survive here. They flourish.

Thamarat supports refugee families in the Netherlands through community support, education, and sustainable assistance.

A free shop built on dignity

The Thamarat Souq is not a fundraiser and not a formal event. It is a free shop.

The idea is simple. We take donations from the community, sort them, and open the doors so that anyone who needs something can walk in, browse, and take whatever they want.

No price tags. No conditions. Just dignity.

The shelves are filled with clothes, shoes, bags, and children’s toys, all collected by our team. It feels less like a charity handout and more like an actual shopping experience, because that is exactly the point.

Our four pillars

We support refugee families in the Netherlands through four core pillars.

  1. Basic needs

Providing clothing, school supplies, and household essentials to families rebuilding their lives.

  2. Education

Supporting academic excellence through tutoring, mentorship, and educational resources that help children reach their full potential.

  3. Community

Building connections through cultural events, gatherings, and mutual support networks that make the Netherlands feel like home.

  4. Empowerment

Offering skill-building workshops and resources for long-term self-sufficiency, helping families become independent contributors to their communities.

Our story

We believe that when we invest in refugee families, we help them not just survive, but flourish in their new communities.

We’ve seen firsthand the challenges refugee families face when building a new life in the Netherlands. The barriers aren’t just about language or employment. They’re about access to basic necessities, educational support for children, and feeling truly welcomed in a new home.

Our community-driven approach means that families aren’t just recipients. They’re active participants in building a stronger, more inclusive community.
