  • Thamarat at Cook and Connect

    Event

    We were invited to run the bazaar at Cook and Connect, a larger event with clay, drawing and storytelling workshops. It turned out beautifully.

    Another Souq on the AZC boat Galaxy, first for women only and then for everyone. All the donations were taken, with music, food and drink.

  • A women-only Souq on the Galaxy

    A clothes Souq for women only on the AZC boat Galaxy in Amsterdam, with very many new donated clothes. It felt like a celebration.

  • A Souq before Eid in Haarlem

    During Ramadan, a week before Eid al-Fitr, we held a Souq at the asylum seekers’ centre in Haarlem, with play, food and drink for the children.

  • A Souq before Ramadan

    Vrouw en Vaart, Amsterdam

    On 13 February 2026, one week before Ramadan, we opened a free shop at Vrouw en Vaart in Amsterdam, with many donations for all ages.

  • Our first Souq event

    On 10 October 2025 we held the first event under the Thamarat name: a Souq at Vrouw en Vaart in Amsterdam. More than 200 people came.

  • The idea behind the Souq

    Souq is the Arabic word for a market. Ours is a free shop with no price tags and no conditions, because we want to give people the experience of shopping.
